Description
The consolidation apparatus is intended for determining the compressibility characteristics of soils: the deformation modulus, consolidation coefficients and collapsibility. The load is applied to the specimen through a 1:10 lever system with a set of calibrated weights.
A digital displacement transducer with 0.001 mm resolution replaces dial gauges and feeds the readings into the logging software: consolidation curves for each load step are plotted automatically, including processing by the Casagrande and Taylor methods.
The rigid frame allows up to six units to be combined into a bank with a shared data acquisition system — a typical solution for site investigation laboratories.
